Virginia Ford Allen passed away peacefully on November 14, 2023. She was 100 years and six months old. Jen was born on May 10, 1923 in Prudence, Fayette County, WV. She was a life-long member of the Scarbro United Methodist Church and an alumna of Oak Hill High School, where she graduated from in 1940. Jen worked for Berman Jewelers in Beckley for many years. She is survived by her nephew and his wife, Douglas and Toni Hill, her nephew Jeb Brede, her cousin Michelle Laird and her husband Bill, her cousin Claudia Neumann and her husband Randy and cousin Hugh Grimmett. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph “Jay” Allen, her parents Herman and Clara Ford, her brother Herman Ford Jr., her sisters Margaret Hill and Dorothy Brede, her niece Debby Pauley, and her nephew Tab Brede.

Jen and her husband moved to Clearwater Florida in 1959. Her husband was employed by Eastern Airlines and retired in 1984. Her husband, Joseph “Jay” Allen was born on July 1, 1920. He passed away on May 5, 2006. Jay graduated from Mount Hope High School. Jay was preceded in death by his parents John and Annie Allen, brother Harry Allen, brother Frank Allen and nephew Harry Allen III.

Following the death of her husband, Jen returned to Oak Hill, WV in 2006 where she enjoyed being close to her family and friends. Jen and Jay were both animal lovers and cared for many dogs and cats  throughout their lives.

Jen will be sorely missed by all her family and friends. She was a lovely, caring Christian lady who was deeply devoted to her family. She was truly blessed to have lived a full, productive and meaningful life.
 
The family is grateful to her caregivers Donna and Sherry, who cared for Jen in the comfort of her own home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Scarbro United Methodist Church, Oak Hill
High School Alumni Association, or the Fayette County Animal Shelter.
 
A celebration of Miss Allen‘s life will be held at a later date at the Oak Hill United Methodist Church in Oak Hill with a dinner reception to follow.
