Shirley Ann (Gilkerson) Murray, 80, of Prudence passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston.
Born July 14, 1945 in Whipple, WV she was the daughter of the late Thomas Gilkerson, Sr. and Pauline Terreo Gilkerson.
Shirley was the owner and operator of Murray Appliance and was a life long member of the Sun Missionary Baptist Church in Sun, WV. In her leisure she enjoyed singing especially at church, cooking, and she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her loving husband, George "Pete" Howard Murry, Sr.; and sister, Billie Sue Priemore.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memory include her 2 children, George Murray, Jr. and Theresa Sanger (Steven); 5 grandchildren, Leah Shrewsberry (Daniel), Ashley Taylor, Tyler Murray (Ashley), Rheanna Murray, and Aliceson Tennant; 6 great grandchildren, Krist Shrewsberry, Danielle Shrewsberry, Corbin Murray, Nathaniel Shrewsberry, Tobias Taylor, and Atlas Phelps; siblings, Thomas Gilkerson, Paulette Greene, Mare Jane Phillips, and Janice Murray.
Graveside rites with burial to follow will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Oak hill.
Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
