Ruth Ann (Steele) Fox

Ruth Ann Fox (Steele) passed away on July 23rd 2025 in Beckley West Virginia, at the age of 74. Born on August 4th 1950, in Charleston West Virginia, Ruth lived a life defined by resilience, generosity and unwavering devotion to her family.

A proud daughter of Peggy and Ashely Fox, Ruth grew up in the heart of West Virginia and carried with her the strength and spirit of her roots throughout her life. She retired from a long and dedicated career at Mountaineer Gas Company but her true life's work was found in the love she poured into her children and grandchildren.

Ruth's world revolved around her children Dave, Lee and Tricia as well as the grandchildren who brought endless joy to her days. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Dave, whose memory she held close to her heart. Her legacy continues through her three great grandchildren; grandsons Devon, Tyler, Alex and Shane; granddaughters Shandale, Kayla, Bella, Kinley, Shelby, Harper and Peyton; sisters Judy and Vicky; as well as her brothers Jimmy and Steven.

Ruth was quick witted, Humorous and sharp as a tac, it was as if her mind and memory were 25! She could tell you things that happened 50 years ago like it was last week. Her humor could only be matched by her grandson Devon and son Lee. While her quick witts and beauty exude from her daughter Tricia. Her strength was matched only by the depth of her love for her children. A legacy of fierce love, humor even in hardship and selfless devotion, she leaves behind a family full of her traits.

Known affectionately as "Nom Nom" or "Grammy", Ruth embodied toughness in every sense of the word. She faced years of health challenges with unmatched courage, always fighting for more time with those she loved. Even in the hospital during her final days she lifted spirits with jokes and laughter, determined to shield others from sorrow.

Her giving nature knew no bounds. Ruth would give her family the last dollar in her wallet if it meant easing a burden or making them smile. Her top priority when you visited was to make sure everyone was cared for, whether that meant having dinner ready as you walked in the door, toys for the kids to play with or a bed ready for you to sleep in! Her door was always open and her oven was always on! She welcomed all that would join her and truly enjoyed caring for them. As with all the BEST grandmas her home was filled with cherished pictures, drawings and trinkets from her children and grandchildren-each one a symbol of the deep love that defined her life. It made no difference how big or small the item was, Ruth was going to display it proudly or store it away like treasure because to her it might as well be made of gold!

Ruth's love for her family was not only for those that will live into the future but also for those that were in her past. With almost a century of family history in albums and books she has passed along a deep understanding of who she was and where she came from. This love for her family which came before her in turn gives another generation the opportunity to keep the family history alive.

May Ruth's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Know that she had no fear in her final days which were filled with love and laughter. She found comfort in meeting Jesus and reuniting with her son Dave! You will forever be on our minds and in our hearts.

Until we meet again, rest in peace, WE LOVE YOU Nom Nom.....

At Ruth's request no services will be held, her ashes will be spread at a later date with her family.
