Ruth Berry Singer

Ruth Berry Singer, 84, of Oak Hill, WV, died on Saturday morning, May 12, 2012, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Rick Hill. She was born on January 13, 1928, in Jackson County, WV. Ruth was a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband’s used car business, Ray’s Trading Post. She attended the First Brethren Church of Oak Hill and was a member of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the West Virginia State Women’s Bowling Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elben Columbus and Georgia Mae Jordan Berry, five brothers, Bob, Delbert, Walt, Grant, Elben (Dink), and three sisters, Hermia Haynes, Thelma Parsons, and Reva Milam. Her beloved son, Ray F. “Stretch” Singer III, died in 1997, and her devoted and adoring husband, Ray F. Singer II, passed away in 2005. Ruth will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Rick Hill; two grandchildren, Joshua David Hill and Melody Ruth Hill; one great-grandson, Joshua David Hill II; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill,with the Rev. William Skeldon and the Rev. Rudell Bloomfield officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
