Robert Alan
Wriston
Oct 20, 1973 — Jul 21, 2026
Oak Hill, West Virginia
Robert Alan Wriston, 52, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 2:04 p.m. at Bower's Hospice House in Beckley, WV, surrounded by love and held in the arms of his faithful Lord.
He was born on October 20, 1973, in Oak Hill, to Edna Kesterson and Robert Wriston.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Wanda and Webster Wriston, Tom and Norma Kesterson, and Ada and Bennie Geroski; his uncle and aunt, William and Barbara Geroski; his aunt, Shirley Geroski; and his uncle, Don Wriston.
He is survived by: his loving mother, Edna Kesterson; his stepdad, Larry Kesterson; his father, Robert Wriston; his aunt and uncle, Mary and Jim Baltiero; his uncle and aunt, Alan and Pattie Geroski; his aunt, Lorraine Ashe; his aunt, Regina Wriston (widow of the late Don Wriston); his aunt and uncle Kathryn and Donald Kesterson; his great-aunt and great-uncle, Loretta and James Holley; his stepbrother and stepsister Larry Allen Kesterson and Renee Kline; his cousins, Tony, Jimmy, and Marty Baltiero; Kevin (Jessica) Geroski, William (Patricia) Geroski Jr., Alan Geroski Jr., Terri Lynn Sabat, Charles Romeo, Bobby Romeo, and John O'Bryan; Jeanine Robinson and Donny Wriston; Donna and Jimmy Holley; and Tommy and Cammy Kesterson. He also leaves behind many beloved cousins, extended family, and a host of friends, including his beloved Pastor Stacy Dingess and wife Debbie, and barber Matt Scalf and wife Denise.
Robert was a proud 1992 graduate of Fayetteville High School and went on to attend VoTech in Oak Hill. He worked for five years at Kroger's in Oak Hill, but his true calling came through music. As "DJ Bob," he entertained countless people, sharing his deep love of music. He had a gift for making people smile—whether through his clever song parodies, spot-on celebrity impressions, or simply by belting out a Country or Gospel tune with his whole heart.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Robert loved the Lord and cherished his church family. His favorite Bible verse was Psalm 91:1-2. He was equally passionate about his favorite sports teams—cheering loudly for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Philadelphia Phillies, the Cleveland Browns, and the Marshall Thundering Herd. He was a dedicated follower of professional wrestling, a joyful gamer, and a lifelong Star Wars devotee. He also found joy and peace in Bob Ross painting classes, embracing the simple pleasure of creating something beautiful. Above all, he was a singer, a storyteller, and a light in the lives of everyone who knew him.
A visitation and viewing will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. Family visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., friends will be received at 11:00 a.m., and the funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. A committal service will follow at Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Robert's memory to Bower's Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Dr, Beckley, WV 25801, whose compassionate care meant so much to him and his family in his final days.
