Paula Ann Reid “Mamaw Paula”, 60, of Beckley, WV passed away suddenly on September 19th, 2023 at Ruby Memorial Hospital due to sudden illness. Born on June 21st, 1963, to Beldon Lafferty and Judy Epperly. She was the big sister to Lee Lafferty and Claudia Kania (Ted). Paula was a graduate of Oak Hill High School class of 1981 and attended Concord University. She relocated to Greenville, SC where she dedicated herself to a career in real estate.
First and foremost, Paula loved her family dearly, but it was no secret that her grandchildren were her favorite. She was a grandmother first above anything else. Paula was an avid sports fan and on any given Saturday during football season you could guarantee that she was watching College Gameday making her picks. She was a dedicated West Virginia Mountaineer, South Carolina Gamecocks and Carolina Panthers fan. She loved to play cards and if you ever played Spades with her, you were guaranteed to lose. She loved drinking iced cold Coca-Cola, and you’d never catch her anywhere without her Yeti. Paula loved the ocean and sunshine. She loved Folly Beach more than anywhere on this earth and could spot a shark tooth from 10 feet away. Paula enjoyed gardening, loved flowers and spending time outside on the back porch. Paula lived her life her way, no exceptions. She was unapologetically herself and did not care what anyone else thought.
Survived by her two daughters Tiffany (Elmo) and Charley (Britt). Her beloved grandchildren; Cadence, Cooper, Barkley, Aniston, and Tyce. Two step brothers, Jerry and Charlie. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. And countless friends.
Preceded in death by her mother, Judy Epperly. Father, Beldon Lafferty. Step-Father, Jerry Epperly. Grandparents, Claude and Sylvia Quesenberry. Uncle, Rodney Quesenberry. And her dog, Baby.
Paula was very adamant that she had no desire for a traditional funeral and instead her family will be hosting a “Celebration of Life” for her on October 1st, 2023 at the Lost Paddle at Ace Adventure Resort from 1-3pm.
