Patricia Lou (Leake) Roat, Nana, 85, of Oak Hill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at CAMC PMC in Oak Hill, WV with her family by her side. Born June 10, 1940 at Eagle, WV, she was the daughter of the late Carl George Leake and Faye Maxine Logan Leake. She was a 1958 graduate of Montgomery High School and a dedicated employee of Cook Department Store and Walmart Photo Lab.
Patti loved crocheting, mowing the grass at The Farm, 4th of July parties, shopping, traveling, and helping to raise her family, she was a mother and grandmother to many.
Patricia was a devoted and passionate 60+ year member of The Smithers Church of Jesus Christ, where she led Women’s group, taught VBS, and worked tirelessly serving her church. Her favorite scripture was “Delight thyself also in the LORD; And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Psalm 37:4
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Freddie Roat, her brothers Doyle Gene Logan, William (Bill) Craddock, and Carl Forrest Leake. Those left to cherish her wonderful and precious memory include her son, Doyle (Dodie) Roat (Jeanie); daughter, Lisa Roat Lavender (Don); granddaughters, Brandi Cook (Keith) and Erin Hughes (Dusty); great-grandsons, Logan Cook (Tempest), Aiden Cook, Luke Hughes, and Isaiah Hughes; great-great-granddaughter, Kennadi Gail Cook; brother George Rodney Leake (Kay), the father of her grandchildren, Alton Compton, several nieces and nephews, and several special “adopted” daughters.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 26, 2025 at the Smithers Church of Jesus Christ in Smithers, WV with Pastor Hubert Harper and Pastor Keith Cook officiating. Entombment will be at Montgomery Memorial Park in London, WV.
Visitation for family and friends will be 1 hour prior to the service at the Smithers Church of Jesus Christ; the family encourages you to wear her favorite color, fuchsia or pink.
Pall bearers will be Aiden Cook, Logan Cook, Kenny Cullum, Johnny Davis, Chris Stover, and Lee Treadway. Honorary pallbearers Luke Hughes and Isaiah Hughes.

The family is deeply grateful for the excellent and compassionate care given by Dr. Tony Pascioles, Dr. Shweihat, Dr. Khawaja, and the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center.
