Norma Jean Whitt, 84, of Mullens, WV passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026 at Hidden Valley Center in Oak Hill, WV.
Born on October 25, 1941 in Basin, WV, Norma was the daughter of the late Nathan and Grethel Graham McKinney. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her only son, Timothy Lucas and sister-in-law, Betty McKinney.
She was a 1959 graduate of Herndon High School and worked for more than 40 years in the banking industry, including over 35 years at banks in Beckley.
She was a faithful member of the Amigo Missionary Baptist Church, and she treasured her church family. Norma was known for loving both cats and dogs, and especially for spoiling not only her own, but all of the animals who lived in her neighborhood.
She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Mitchell Whitt, who cared for her faithfully throughout her long illness. Also left to treasure her memory are her sister, Lela Graham (Danny) and nephew Bryan Graham (Myra) who were lovingly devoted to her care; three brothers, Rod (Betty) McKinney, Denny McKinney and Dwight McKinney; her daughter-in-law, Kim Lucas; two step daughters, Lisa Jones and Lynette Lowe (Kelly); five grandchildren, Kaley (Josh) Butler, Jacob Osborne , Kelcie Lowe, Laci Tankersley, Brynn Jones and a special great niece, Riley Graham.
The family would like to thank the staff at Greystone Village for the exceptional care they have provided over the past 3 1/2 years.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 22nd, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Hope, WV with Pastor Curtis England officating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Gideon Bible Fund at Amigo Baptist Church.
