It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nicholas Andrew Vaynes at the age of 39 on March 3, 2026.
Nicholas was a devoted son, brother, and uncle who treasured his family above all else. He especially loved spending time with his parents, sisters, and his beloved niece and nephews. Being “Uncle Nick” to his five nephews and one niece brought him great pride and joy.
Nicholas had a passion for car shows and enjoyed spending time admiring classic and custom vehicles. He also enjoyed collecting guns and knives, a hobby he appreciated for the craftsmanship and history behind each piece. He found happiness in the simple things—good conversations, shared laughter, time spent with his loved ones (including the family dogs), and was always ready to prank his sisters.
He is survived by his loving parents, Steve and Gail Vaynes; his sisters, Tera (Erik) Smith and Rebecca (Blake) Engels; his niece, Mila Engels; and his nephews, Connor Smith, Aiden Smith, Garrett Smith, Jackson Engels, and Beau Engels. He also leaves behind extended family and friends who will all deeply miss his presence.
Nicholas will be remembered for his love of family, his interests and passions, and the memories he created for those closest to him. He will be dearly missed and forever held in our hearts.
There will be a private service for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
