Nancy Boyd Smith

After a long illness, Nancy Jane Boyd Smith , 86, of Ona, WV formerly of Mount Hope, WV passed away on Tuesday, September 01, 2020.

Born April 11, 1934 at Kilsyth, WV she was the daughter of the late Richard E. Boyd, Sr. and Vivian Jones Boyd.

Nancy attended Mount Hope schools and was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Frederick Smith, Sr. (Dec 23, 2012); one sister, Roslyn Boyd Tabor Shirey; three brothers, Richard Elis Boyd, Jr., Thomas Jackson Boyd and James Harry Boyd, Sr.; and three grandchildren, Amy Vealey, Jason Smith and Eric Adkins.

The entire family expresses love and thanks to our youngest sister, Kelly, who has been such a devoted caregiver for mom the past 8 years. Words are inadequate to tell our appreciation.

Those left to cherish her memory include five sons and three daughters - George F. Smith, Jr. (Missey), Thomas M. Smith (Theresa), Anna L. Vealey, Michael A. Smith (Lee Ann), C. Richard Smith (Denise), C. Wayne Smith (Melaine), Nancy Pat Smith and Kelly S. Freeman; as well as twenty three grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside rites and committal will be on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 12:00 noon at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill with Minister Elbert E. "Buddy" Goins, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow. Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Those planning to attend should use proper COVID 19 precautions by wearing masks and maintaining social distancing of 6 feet.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis TN 38105
