Our precious mother, Mary Pearl Gill LaRocco , 90, of Oak Hill, WV went to meet her Savior on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.
Born April 26, 1928 at Wickham, WV she was the daughter of the late Arthur "A.P." and Rebecca Rhodes Gill.
Mary had been a resident of Hidden Valley Nursing Home for 3 1/2 years. Although confined to a wheelchair/bed and her hands crippled with arthritis she was still sharp as a tac. Her favorite food was chocolate. Everyone chuckled when they saw her because it was always dripping off her chin.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. A faithful member of the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene, Cornerstone Sunday School Class and Goldeneers. Mary never lost interest in her church. She would ask weekly how many was there, if we had a good crowd, etc.
She loved her family. Christmas Eve was always a special time. It meant all her children and grandchildren were coming over to hang out with her and eat the special goodies.
Her husband, Nick LaRocco; daughter, Carman Marie LaRocco; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth LaRocco; brothers, Paul, Henry, Herbert Gill; and sister, Anna Mae Pash preceded her in death.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Marlene A. (Mick) Adkins and Josephine (Dave) Butcher; sons, Nick LaRocco, Jr. and James “Bo” (Pat) LaRocco; grandchildren, LaVon Butcher, Michell Craddock, Michael LaRocco, Jason Adkins; nine great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Church of the Nazarene with Dr. Randy L. James officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Family members will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
