Margaret J. Humphrey, 87, of Greensboro, NC formerly of High Point, NC and Oak Hill, WV passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at Authoracart Beacon Place, Greensboro, NC.

Born on April 4, 1939 in Beckley, WV and was the daughter of the late James Roy Sampson and Beulah (Wendell) Sampson and also her paternal grandmother, Ida Sampson who raised her.

She received her High School GED later in life so that she could be certified as a teacher at F.M.R.S as a teacher for disabled children. She retired from St. Andrews day care center as a cook after 16 years of service.

In addition to her parents and grandmother she is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Edward Humphrey; son, Danny Humphrey; sister, Sylvia Height; and brother, Robert Lee Sampson.

Those left to cherish her wonderful memory include her 2 sons, Jeff Humphrey and wife Annette and Russ Humphrey and wife Cindy; 4 grandchildren, Travis Humphrey, John Humphrey, Christy Payne, and Bobby Craver; 3 great grandchildren, Kayla Craver, Connor Payne, and Camryn Payne; and great great grandchild, Khyrie

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday July 26, 2026 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Greg Swisher officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to service at the funeral home in Oak hill.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
