Margaret Ellen Janney left this life to be with her Lord, Jesus, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Maynor, WVA on May 6, 1922. She married her first husband, Alfred Keffer on October 22, 1938. They raised three children and lived in Charleston, WVA and then moved to Lively, WVA. After his passing, she married her second husband, Frank Janney on March 14, 1966. They lived in Flint Michigan, Lively WVA and then moved to Weirwood Hill where she lived until her passing. Margaret was a faithful Christian and a member of Packs Branch Baptist Church. Heaven will be more joyful by her presence. We will deeply miss her.
To know Margaret was to love her. She never met a stranger. Everyone knew her to be a beautiful, loving and fun person to be around. She had a fantastic sense of humor. She lived a beautiful life and enjoyed every second of her life. You could find her on her front porch, swinging. She truly loved living in West Virginia. As she would often say, “there is no place like home.” She also loved her pinto beans and cornbread. She would start each day with a cup of coffee.
Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandma, granny, aunt, cousin, friend and so much more to everyone. Nothing was more important to her than the Lord, her family and friends. They were her entire world. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker and as she would often say, she loved to “piddle” around the house.
Margaret loved to spend time with her family. She loved going to church. She was a woman of faith and believed in the power of prayer. She also dearly loved her friends and her church family. She also traveled to California, Florida, Hawaii, Michigan, Virginia and other places.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alred Keffer; her second husband, Frank Janney; her father, Ramie Painter, her mother Georgia Pearl Painter. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harry Painter; sisters, Juanita Bowyer, Elise (Coots) Wilkerson, and Polly Painter; her son, Randy Lewis Keffer; her granddaughter Christina Russell Myers; her son-in-law Donald Mullins; her best friend, Clarice Short, and several other family members.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Carolyn Mullins and Janet Sue Russell and Grover Russell. Her sister, Brenda Workman. Her grandchildren, Jeremy Lewis Keffer, Gregory William Mullins and Cathy Mullins, Lori Ann Newton and Peter Newton, and Mathew Russell and Anna Russell. Her great grandchildren Mason Newton and Anna Newton, Cheyenne Smith and Joe Garren, Autumn Gallahan and Mike Gallahan, Christina Russell, and Victoria Russell.
