Mabel Mankin Ramey, 90, of Conway, South Carolina fomerly of Oak Hill, WV died Saturday, September 27, 2003, at home after a long illness. She was born May 1, 1913 in Oak Hill, a daughter of the late Clyde and Elsie Backus Mankin. She was the retired owner of Mabel's Dress Shop in Oak Hill and a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church where she attended the Shirley Donnelly Bible Class and a member of the Oak Hill Civic League. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Ramey on October 28, 1976 and also three sisters. SURVIVORS include her son, Charles "Skip" Ramey and his wife, Candace of Charleston, WV; One daughter, Betty Presson and her husband, Tony of Conway, South Carolina; three grandsons, Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Ramey of Huntington, Vermont, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Ramey of Charleston, WV, and Lt. Aaron Ramey serving in the US Navy in Japan; one great granddaughter, Ella Grace Ramey of Charleston, WV; two sisters, Mary C. Mankin and Opal V. Gilbert both of Oak Hill; three nephews and one niece also survive her. Private graveside rites were conducted, Monday, September 29, at 11:00 A. M. at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill with Rev. Bill Menefee officiating. Burial followed in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
