Lois Ruth Brewer (Martin)

Lois Ruth Brewer (Martin), 92, of Oak Hill, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Summersville Healthcare Center, Summersville. 

Born August 31, 1933, at Walkertown, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Lincoln and Mary Ann (Hammers) Lay. 

Lois was a homemaker. She was a member of the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene, Fayette Study Club of Oak Hill, and Scarbro Garden Club. Lois is the last surviving member of her immediate family. 

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Brewer; grandson, Scott Brewer; son-in-law, Mark Hurd; brother, Harold Lay; and four sisters, Mary Savage, Mattie Fletcher, Dorothy Harvey, and Julia Taylor. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Michael Brewer and his wife, Debra of Fayetteville; her daughter, Rebecca Hurd of Oak Hill; four grandchildren, Matthew Brewer of Fayetteville, John Brewer (Brandi) of Oak Hill, Sarah Williams (Nick) of Beaver, and James Michael Hurd (Cassidy) of Brooklyn, New York; four great grandchildren, Keelan Brewer, Gillian Brewer, Isla Williams, and Cole Brewer; and numerous special nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Scott Keffer and the staff at Summersville Healthcare Center for the care shown to their mother during her stay. 

In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
