Linda M. Swaggerty, age 80, entered into eternal rest on May 21, 2026.

Born October 26, 1945, in Hot Springs, Virginia, Linda was the daughter of the late Corbett Ryder and Lorine Hice Ryder of Thurmond, West Virginia.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Charles Roberts, with whom she shared 23 years of marriage, and Leonard Swaggerty, with whom she shared 19 years. She was also preceded in death by her children, Jerry L. Kincaid of Mt. Hope, Bobby Joe Kincaid, and Shawna Dillion of Martinsburg, West Virginia; and by her granddaughter, Felicia Ratliff.

She leaves behind a family who will continue to carry her memory and love: daughter Ruth McMillion and husband Terry of Hill Top; son Virgil Kincaid and wife Donna of Mt. Hope; daughter Loretta Ratliff and partner Keith Mitchell; and daughter Debra Higginbotham and husband Charles of Red Star. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Tina Kincaid and son-in-law Allen Dillion.

Linda was the proud grandmother of 19 and great-grandmother of 28, each of whom brought great joy and meaning to her life.

She dedicated many years serving others as a caregiver for the Rasheed family of Beckley, West Virginia, and was known for her caring spirit both professionally and personally.

A faithful member of Sandbranch Worship Center, Linda’s faith guided her life and shaped the way she cared for others. She found joy in quilting, working puzzles, and spending time fishing. More than anything, Linda was known by her family for having an open door, a warm bed, and a delicious meal ready for anyone who needed one. Her home was a place of comfort, welcome, and love.

Though her family grieves her passing, they rejoice knowing she is at peace and reunited with those who have gone before her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Linda’s life on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Tyree Funeral Home in Mt. Hope, West Virginia. Family visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., with visitation for friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Linda will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Virgil Kincaid, Brandon Kincaid, Jerry Kincaid, Bobby Dillion, Gregory Callahan, and Terry Foster.

Linda will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but the kindness she shared and the faith she lived will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
