Obituary

  • With hearts full of love, we announce the peaceful passing of Keith R Martin, a cherished son, a beloved brother, an adoring uncle, and a treasured friend and cousin, on August 19th, 2026, in Hilltop, WV. Keith was 79 years old.

  • Keith was born on August 23, 1946, in Raleigh County, WV, to the late Hermie and Bernice (Shaver) Martin. Growing up in West Virginia, Keith developed a strong work ethic and a deep dedication to his family. Keith was a 1965 graduate of Oak Hill High School. After serving as a Chef in the Air Force, with a tour in Viet Nam, Keith returned home in 1968 to train as a brick mason. Following that, Keith was self-employed and developed Keith R Martin Masonry which served the Fayette and Raleigh County areas for several years. Keith went on to develop Hilltop Logging where he worked until he retired.

  • Outside of work, Keith’s life was defined by his deep love for his family and the pleasure he found in nature. He truly enjoyed spending time in the woods during turkey and deer seasons, and searching for ginseng and wild mushrooms. He found contentment fishing along the New and Greenbrier Rivers. However, his true pleasure was in sharing a genuine laugh with the people he loved and playing with all of his nieces and nephews. He was everyone’s favorite uncle. All of the children in the family loved playing and laughing with him.

  • Keith was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Curtiss and Jean Martin and by his niece Delisa Pike. Prior to passing, Keith gave his heart to God. We are sure there was rejoicing in heaven when he met his Savior and loved ones who went on before him.

  • His memory will be forever cherished by his two brothers, Darrell (Mae) Martin & Ronnie (Kim) Martin as well as seven nieces & nephews, at least seventeen great nieces & nephews, and even a few great, great nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Keith's life on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Tyree Funeral Home (999 Jones Avenue, Oak Hill, WV).

  • Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, with a service beginning at 2:30 PM, officiated by Pastor Dwayne Williams of Kilsyth Freewill Baptist Church. Graveside rites and military honors will immediately follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Oak Hill.

  • In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Keith’s giving heart with a donation to Kilsyth Freewill Baptist Church. You may donate by following the link below to scan the QR code for the church Kilsyth Freewill Baptist Churchcash.app or by mailing a check to: PO Box 565, Mt. Hope, WV 25880. Thank you!
