Karen Kay Compton Vass

Our loving and amazing wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, friend, and child of God, Karen Kay Compton Vass, age 70, of Fayetteville, gained her wings on Sunday, June 9, 2019. She passed away after a long battle with cancer at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Born at Beury Mountain, WV on April 21, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Gertie Ella Adkins Compton. Four brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.

Karen was a homemaker and also was a retired CNA having worked at Hidden Valley and the Summit. She was a member of the Gatewood Brethren Church.

Left to cherish are memory are her husband of 45 years, Daniel Vass, her daughter, Angela Shumate and husband, Chris and grandchildren, Gabriel and Ella; and her son, Justin Vass and wife, Brittany and grandchild, Easton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Pastor Scott Lester officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Pea Ridge Road, Oak Hill.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 PM on Thursday, June 13, 2019.

Darrell Compton, Jr., Brad Compton, Craig Compton, Barry Stone, Jeremy Blake and Joe Hill, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
