Johnnie Linville, Jr.

Johnnie Linville, Jr., 75, of Cool Ridge formerly of Boone County, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026 with his loving family by his side. 

Born January 14, 1951 in Boone County, he was the son of the late John Baptist Linville and Frances (Carver) Linville. 

Johnnie was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a graduate of West Virginia State University in Institute where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was formerly an employee of Boone County Board of Education and was Vice President for Seven Gables Construction. Johnnie was a member of the Rumble Community Baptist Church in Ashford where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a fiddle player in the Emmond's Bluegrass Gospel Band and in his leisure he enjoyed molly mooching hunting. 

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Linville; his son, Jonathan Linville; brother, Peter Eugene Linville; sister, Wanda Faye Linville; and brother-in-law, Jesse Thompson. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, David H. Linville; Deion Johnson whom he and Audrey considered as a son; three grandchildren, Ameila, Amanda, and Abram Linville; four sisters, Diana Hughey and her husband, Tom, Trudy Barker and her husband, Robert, Eva Thompson, and Cheryl Vance and her husband, Ronnie; one brother, Steve Linville and his wife, Denise; good friend and Pastor, Richard Harold; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
