John Calvin Robinson

John Calvin Robinson, 81, of Beckley, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley surrounded by his family following a long illness. 

Born December 15, 1943, in Pemberton, he was the son of the late David Clark and Carrie (Wickline) Robinson. 

John was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Beckly College. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran where he once met John F. Kennedy while serving on a ship in the U.S. Navy. Also, while serving in the U.S. Navy he met and married his wife, Norma Myrna Mary (Shears) Robinson. He was a former banker for the British Railway Bank at Water Lou Station in London, England. 

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by one brother, David; two sisters, Mildred and Jean; and a daughter-in-law, Patty Robinson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving a devoted wife of 61 years, Norma Myrna Mary (Shears) Robinson who he married on February 22, 1964; one daughter, Marlana Ivey (Clarence) Fayetteville; three sons, Erick Robinson (Arizona) of Beckley, Jerone Robinson of Daniels, and Mark Robinson (Lena) of Beckley; one grandson, Devon Ivey; four step granddaughters, Amber, Freedom, Michael, and Amber; one sister, Evelyn Vipperman of Beckley; and one brother, Ray Robinson of Beckley. 

Graveside service and burial will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 22, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley with Rev. Jim Bowyer officiating. 

For those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery. 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
