Jimmy Gene Tucker, Jr., 57, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife, two sons, and beloved church family.
Jimmy was a devoted husband, loving father, and faithful servant of God. He was a beloved member of Solid Rock Worship Center in Oak Hill, where he faithfully served as an usher and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever he was needed. His love for his church family was evident in everything he did, and he held a special place in his heart for his pastor, Greg Hurley, whom he affectionately referred to as "my pastor." Jimmy didn't just attend church; he loved his church, his church family, and every opportunity he had to serve the Lord.
Jimmy was employed at Bridgeport Equipment in Beckley, West Virginia, where his hardworking nature and unforgettable personality left a lasting impression.
Anyone who knew Jimmy knew that he rarely missed an opportunity to make someone laugh. Whether it was one of his famously cheap one-liners, a perfectly timed prank, or his contagious, hearty laugh, Jimmy had a way of bringing joy to those around him. You could almost always find him with a cup of coffee in his hand, ready with a joke or a story to brighten someone's day.
Jimmy enjoyed riding his motorcycle and had a playful sense of humor that those closest to him will never forget. From his famous saying, "Chicks dig scars," whenever a little boy got hurt, to his tradition of writing in Dick Butkus on his ballot at every election, Jimmy had a personality that was truly one of a kind.
But beyond the laughter and jokes was a man with a heart for people. Jimmy loved his family deeply and took great pride in serving his church and helping others. He had a special gift for making people feel welcome, loved, and appreciated. His presence could light up a room, and his absence will be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
At the center of Jimmy's world were his loving wife, Sara Tucker, and their two sons, Jacob and Jack of Oak Hill, West Virginia. His love for them was immeasurable, and the memories they shared will forever be treasured.
Additional surviving family members include his mother, Sharon Brown, and her husband, Ronnie, of Buffalo, West Virginia; and his granddaughter, Katie.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Gene Tucker, Sr.; his sister, Sherri Lynn of Garretts Bend, West Virginia; and his aunt, Dotty Hayes.
Although our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the precious memories Jimmy leaves behind and the faith that was such an important part of his life. His laughter, kindness, unwavering love for his family, and faithful service to the Lord will never be forgotten.
Jimmy's life reminds us that some of the greatest gifts we can leave behind are the love we give, the lives we touch, and the laughter we share.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to assist with the expenses associated with Jimmy’s funeral services. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
Green was Jimmy’s favorite color, and in honor of his memory, the family invites everyone attending his services to wear green as a special tribute to him.
"Well Don, thou good and faithful servant..." Matthew 25:21 (KJV)
