Jerry Vinton Scarbro, 80, of Oak Hill, WV, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2022, in Cabell Huntington Hospital.
He was born on December 17, 1941, in Mossy, WV he was the son of the late Vinton and Daisey Scarbro.
Jerry served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1973. During his time in the Army, he was in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. He worked in the Coal Mines for several years. During that time, he was given two nicknames; Bear and Crosscut.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip Scarbro and Dennis Scarbro; and one sister, Marcella Wriston
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 42 years Brenda Scarbro; son, Kenneth Scarbro (Laura); daughter, Wendy Rawlings (Tony); grandchildren, Jessie Scarbro, Daisy Scarbro, Phillip J. Scarbro, Amber Shane (Chris), Anthony Rawlings, Jr. (Robin), and Camrin Rawlings. He also had 8 great grandchildren; four brothers, David Scarbro, Donald Scarbro, Arthur Scarbro, and Jimmy Scarbro; and one sister, Pauline Nelson.
He will be greatly missed by his family, and all who knew him.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Lum Toney officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors.
Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to service on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the funeral home.
