Jake Ryder, 72, of Mount Hope, WV passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Born January 25, 1949 in Thurmond, he was the son of the late Corbett and Loraine Hise Ryder.
Jake worked for 17 years as a mechanic recapping tires and worked at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic School and Church in Oak Hill for 20 years doing multiple jobs. He never met a stranger anyone he met was just like family, and his greatest joy in life was being surrounded by his loving family whom loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Keith and Roman Suttle; sisters, Janette Suttle and Shirley Risko.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Kathy Caldwell Ryder; daughters, Brenda Stevens and John Boyd, Jeana and Chuck Taylor, Sarah and Frankie Pennington, Jennifer and Brandon Williams, and Jessica and Tiffany Ellison; grandchildren, Isaiah Taylor, Faith Taylor, Mary-Kay Taylor, Alex Baxter, Caleb Baxter, Jayden Baxter, Trey Williams, Allie Williams, Lauren and John Cantrell, Ashley and Dan Schlavi, Brendan Boyd; great grandchildren, Noah Cantrell; brothers, Kenny Suttle, Elmer Suttle, and Jessie Ryder; sisters, Mary Suttle, Linda Swaggerty, and Edith Milam; along with other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be 4:00 PM Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Pastor Richard Allen officiating. In keeping with Jake's wishes he will be cremated following the service.
Visitation for friends will be 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home in Mount Hope.
While masks are not required you might consider wearing one before entering the building as we all attempt to stop the spread of COVID 19.
