Mrs. Ina Kelby Lane slipped the bonds of the earth and went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 7, 2023 after a brief illness at the Hubbard Hospice at CAMC in Charleston at the age of 96.
Born August 26, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Rebecca Graham.
In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Vesker Lane; her sisters, Hazel (Claude) Harman, Merle (Bernard) McKinney, and Ethel (Frank) Lusk; and her brothers, Orville (Joyce) Graham and Ray (Layla) Graham. Ina was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Ina was a 1944 graduate of Herndon High School. She attended business school in Bluefield, VA for one summer and started her teaching career that fall.
Ina was a retired school teacher having taught 40 plus years in the Wyoming County school system. Schools she taught at were Sand Gap, Milams Creek, Fanny, Itmann, Stephenson, and Mullens Grade School. During her teaching career she touched many lives and shaped many minds; always with a touch of grace and compassion.
She was a lifelong member of the Spruce Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was the church clerk from the age of 18 until her death.
Ina is survived by her daughter, Imogene (Ronald) Lusk; her son, Devon (Tina) Lane; grandchildren, Joe Glenn, Charity Glenn, and Faith (David) Sizemore; great grandchildren, Walter Sizemore, Vesker Sizemore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the Spruce Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Basin with Rev. Lucas Shrewsbury and Rev. Danny Lusk officiating. Burial will follow in the Spruce Grove Cemetery, Basin.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Sunday at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
