Helen E. Adams, 96, of Mount Hope, WV passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at home in Mount Hope, WV surrounded by her loving family.
Born October 30, 1925 in Princeton, WV she was the eldest daughter of the late Roy and Crete Martin Jackson.
Helen was a 1943 graduate of Mt. Hope High School. Upon graduation, she was employed by the US Navy Department in Arlington, VA and then by the Bureau of Mines (MSHA) in Mount Hope, later transferring to the Office of Surface Mining in Charleston and Beckley. After retiring, she volunteered at Plateau Medical Center for several years. She was also a founding member of the Red Hat Society in Mount Hope. She loved to play bingo at the Mount Hope Lions Club and enjoyed painting in oils. Her artwork had been displayed at the old high school in Mount Hope. She was also a long standing member of the Mount Hope Baptist Temple.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William Adams; son, William (Billy) Adams, Jr; sister, Jean Seletyn; brothers, James (Jimmy) Jackson, infants Jerry and Buddy Jackson.
Survivors include: sisters, Shirley Lukie of Maple Fork, Sandra (Sandy) Jackson of Roanoke, VA; Patricia Weidensall of Shady Springs; brother, Roy (Rick) Jackson of Charlotte, NC; son, Jerry Adams (Jan) of Charleston; two grandchildren, Ashley Adams of Mount Hope and Jeremy Adams (Jessica) of San Diego, CA; two great-granddaughters, Sophia Balderas of Roanoke, VA and Isabella Balderas of Mount Hope; several dear nieces and nephews; close cousins, Thressa Carper (Orville) and Freddie Sink (George) of Princeton.
Special thanks to Charlotte Harless for her years of devotion and friendship and to Helen's many caregivers for all their care and kindness during her prolonged illness.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, January 7, 2022 at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Pastor Richard Allen officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum #3, Prosperity, WV
Visitation for friends will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Friday from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
