Gladys Collins Perry Snyder, age 102 of Mount Hope, WV peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020.
Born October 24, 1917 in Cirtsville West Virginia, Gladys was preceded in death by her first husband of 37 years Norvell R. Perry (1971) and her second husband of 23 years, Robert Snyder (2010), Also preceding her in death were her son, Gary Collins Perry; parents Elmer and Bertie Ann Collins; sisters Eva, Lorena, Margie; and brothers, Everett, and Robert.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Wanda J. Perry of Oak Hill; grandchildren, Gregory C. Perry, and wife, Amy of Daniels, Jeanay S. Booth and husband, Tom, of Oak Hill and Brian P Perry and wife, Shannon, of Oak Hill; great grandchildren, Adam Perry, Landon Perry, Genna Perry, Ann-Marie Perry, Lauren Broadwater (Steve) and Thomas Booth; great great grandchild, Charlotte Broadwater.
Gladys lived in West Palm Beach, Florida for 43 years, returning to Mount Hope, which she called home, in 2002. Gladys was a retired hostess of the Carling House in West Palm Beach, FL. She enjoyed travelling between West Palm Beach and Mount Hope for many years and was an avid Mountaineer fan, attending many of WVU’s bowl games. On many occasions she stated to family and friends over the years that her longevity was due to drinking lots of water (Mount Hope had the best water) and eating fresh fruit.
She was a member of the Mount Hope Christian Church, attending faithfully up to her 100 year mark.
Graveside rites and committal service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest beside her husband Norvell.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers who kept her company over the past few years and attended to her needs.
Her grandson’s and great grandson’s will serve as pallbearers.
