Gladys Mae Lester

Gladys Mae Lester, 74, of Herndon, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on February 21, 2026. Born and raised in Herndon, she spent her entire life in the home and community she loved.

Gladys was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her children, William Owen Lester Jr., Sheila Shelton, Ronald (Rhonda) Lester, and Anthony (Rita) Lester. She was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her dearly and will forever cherish her memory.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Owen Lester Sr.; her parents, Bertia and Silas Sizemore; and her precious baby boy, Quintin Douglas Lester.

A lifelong homemaker, Gladys poured her heart into caring for her family. She loved the outdoors whether it be camping, fishing, or tending to her garden, but her greatest joy was in her kitchen. She had a gift for cooking and made sure no one ever left her home hungry. Her door was always open, her table always full, and her love always unconditional.

Gladys truly had a heart of gold. She spent her life putting others before herself, offering comfort, strength, and steady love to everyone around her. She was the kind of woman who made the world softer just by being in it. Her presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 27th, 2026 at Garwood Church of God, Garwood with Pastor Ricky Shrewsbury officiating. Burial will follow in the Bud Cemetery, Bud.

Friends may call one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made directly to Tyree Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
