Everett Wayne Taylor

Everett W. Taylor died May 6, 2024, in Beckley, WV.  Born March 19, 1943, to Dewey and Violet Taylor, he was reared in Oak Hill, WV.  Everett graduated from Collins High School in 1961 and continued his education at Beckley College.  He received his Professional Surveyor License in 1970 and his Underground Surveying License in 1971.  Everett spent his professional career in the mining industry, land reclamation and design and construction of large metal buildings.


He was a devoted Oak Hill Red Devil and WVU Mountaineer fan as demonstrated by his voluminous collection of game video tapes, his favorite WVU attire and his 30 plus years of attendance at WVU home and bowl football games.  Everett was a member of the Mount Hope Presbyterian Church, former member/board member at White Oak Country Club and an auxiliary member of the West Virginia Wesleyan College Emeritus Club.


Everett is survived by his wife, Mary Jean, his daughter, Elizabeth Parlin (Michael), and his son, Wayne (Melissa).  He is also survived by grandchildren:  Sarah Burgess (Joshua), Colton Leddy, Roger Taylor (Jennifer), and Christina Waninger (Sam); great grandchildren:  Willow, Lilly and Otto Taylor; Ella and Cruz Waninger; Lilly and Scarlett Aliff and Jamison Neff. In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by his siblings:  Elmer Taylor, Dorothy Charlton, Norma Sizemore, Loretta Bostic (Kedrick survives), and Clarence Taylor (Catherine survives). He also is survived by his siblings' children and their families.


Funeral Services will be held at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024, with Pastor Ryan Snuffer officiating.  Family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be private.


In lieu of flowers, donations in Everett's memory may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia or to the Oak Hill High/Collins High Alumni Association.
