Elsie Elmira Hughes

Elsie Elmira Smith Hughes, 95, of New London, Ohio, formerly from Kincaid, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 5, 2019, after a short illness.

Born February 24, 1924, at Concho, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jasper and Willie McCormick Smith.

Elsie was a homemaker and attended Rochester Baptist Church.

Her husband, Thomas J. Hughes; a son, Paul Hughes; three brothers Stanley, Bob, and Lenard Smith; and two sisters, Etha Robertson and Grace Lewis preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish her memory include son, Wayne T. Hughes at home; daughter, Karen (Roy) Keffer of Wakeman, OH; two granddaughters, Julie (Bob) Shaw of Wellington, OH and Jennifer (Joe) Bottomlee of New London, OH; and three great-grandsons, Dustin Bottomlee of Parma, OH, Matthew Bottomlee of New London, OH and Bryce Shaw of Wellington, OH. Also surviving are brothers, James Smith of Kincaid and Roger D. Smith of Summersville; sisters, Dolly Keffer of Coal City, Leona Dye of Spencer and Patsy Manning of Walnut Cove, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2019, from 1 pm until 2:30 pm at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with the funeral services immediately following and with Rev. Ronald George, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Kincaid Cemetery at Kincaid.

Grandsons-in-law, great-grandsons and other family members will serve as pallbearers.
