Debra "Debbie" Kay
(Moore) Sears
Jul 22, 1955 — Aug 19, 2026
Fayetteville, West Virginia
Debra “Debbie” Kay Moore Sears passed away quietly and peacefully on August 19, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived.
Debbie was born on July 22, 1955, to the late James T. Moore and Hazel M. Cody Moore. She was a woman of deep faith who was grateful to God each day for every blessing bestowed upon her throughout her life. She took comfort in knowing that her parents were waiting with open arms to welcome her home, along with the beloved family members who had gone before her: James Moore Jr.; Rose “Tootsie” Holtsclaw Slaughter; Sharyn “PeeWee” Moore; Gary Moore; Penny Begley; Thomas “Tommy” Moore; and Russell Moore.
Debbie leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her devoted husband of 53 years, Robert “Bobby” Sears; daughter Margaret “Margie” Sears Compton and her husband, Russ; and son Robert “Bobby” Sears Jr. and his wife, Bonnie.
She was a proud grandmother to Zoe Sears Waters, Aaron Compton, Tyler Compton, Alexis Sears, Victoria Cordle, and Ryan Bargainer, and a great-grandmother to Rowan Freudeman. She also held a special place in her heart for her bonus grandchild and great grandchild, Chris and Carter Brooks.
Debbie is also survived by her siblings Carol “Porky” Brown, Freida “Susie” Smith, Charles “Charlie” Moore, and David Moore and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved unconditionally.
Debbie would especially like to express her heartfelt gratitude to Arleatha and her late husband, Bobby Sweeney, for the love, guidance, and friendship they gave her and Bobby during their younger years as parents. They were always there for them throughout the years, serving as mentors, family, and the kind of friends anyone would be blessed to have.
While there are no services planned those wishing to honor Debbie’s memory may make a donation in her name to The Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV, where she and her family received exceptional care, compassion, and support during her final days.
Another beautiful way to honor Debbie’s life is simply to do a kind act for someone in need. Debbie was grateful for every blessing in her life, and carrying that spirit of kindness forward would be a meaningful tribute to her memory.
