David Alan Young passed away on October 6, 2024 at the age of 74 following several months of declining health due to type I and type II diabetes. David was born on August 15, 1950 to the late Otis Thornton Young and Audrey McClung Young in Fayetteville, WV.
David spent his youngest years in West Virginia before moving with his family to the Cleveland area, where he attended Olmsted Falls High school and Baldwin Wallace College, where he earned his teaching certificate in Physical Education and Health. David taught for many years in Cleveland area school districts, along with owning his own roofing and siding business. David raised three children in Olmsted Falls, where they attended Olmsted Community church and David was involved with the youth group. One of the most beautiful gifts he gave his children is a love of helping others, as David worked alongside them for Habitat for Humanity, in soup kitchens, and volunteering with the homeless community. David was also involved with coaching his children’s soccer and baseball teams.
Recently, David lived in New Hampshire for awhile to be closer to his children and 12 grandchildren before buying his parents’ house in Oak Hill. David loved his grandchildren and was passionate about hearing of their sports ventures, in particular. Many of his grandchildren possess his inherent athleticism, and he was proud of them all.
David is survived by his family: daughter Kelly Young Ouellette and her husband Allen of Newbury, NH, and grandchildren Tristan, Liam, Gabe, Marissa, Callan and Amelie, son Ryan Young and wife Chrissy of Concord, NH, and grandchildren Thomas, Michael, and Madeleine, and son Michael Young and wife Melinda of Newburyport, MA, and grandchildren Wesley, Corbin, and Vivian. He is also survived by sister Cheryl Farley and brother Charles Young, his good friend Patty, a special cousin and friend Don McClung, and his sidekick for many years Bella. He was pre-deceased by his son Bradley James Young and his parents, Otis and Audrey Young.
David will be buried in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, where he spent most of his life. His family will have a private memorial service.
