Darrell E. Elkins, 79, of Scarbro passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Born April 27, 1947 in Corton, WV he was the son of the late Earl Henry Elkins and Gladys Juanita Taylor Elkins.

Darrell was a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran, who honorably served his Country during the Vietnam War, completing two tours of duty. Hs courage and sacrifice earned him two Purple Hearts, a testament to his dedication and bravery. He carried the same strength, resilience, and quiet humility throughout his life. When he wasn't sharing stories of the days gone by, he could often be found in the woods hunting or on the water fishing. He also had a gift for storytelling, he never met a stranger, and made everyone feel like a friend. He was loved by many.

Along with this parents he is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Dallas C. Elkins and James N. Elkins.

Those left to cherish his wonderful and loving memory include his loving wife, Mary J. Elkins; daughter, Patricia M. Nance; son, Darrell E. Elkins, Jr.; and grandchildren, Dylan M. Nance, Ryan K. Elkins, Samantha E. Pauley, and Ronni K. Nance; great grandchildren, Averi, Dawson, and Tristan Pauley and Charlotte and Emilia Elkins.

In keeping with Mr. Elkins wishes he will be cremated with no services at this time.
