Charles Laird Harler, 85, of Fayetteville passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born April 6, 1940 in Montgomery, WV he was the son of the late James Albert Harler, Sr. and Nathilee Frances Ingram Harler.
Charles graduated from Montgomery High School, was a proud United States Air Force Veteran and after the military he was a business owner for Larrys Market, worked as a engineer and in construction, and retired from the Fayette County Board of Education in maintenance after 10 years. In his leisure he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, four wheeling, watching Nascar, and he especially loved being surrounded by his family especially his grandchildren great grandchildren and his great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his loving wife, Shelby Jean Kincaid Harler; daughter, Kimberly Kay Harler; and siblings, James Harler, Douglas Harler, and Mary Gravely..
Those left to cherish his loving memory include his 3 daughters, Debra Lynn Robertson and husband Clarence Edward Robertson, Catherine Jean Williams and husband Orba Williams, and Dana Denise Greene and husband James Lewis Greene; 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; siblings, Rebecca Clark, Donald "Donnie" Harler (Jan), Martha "Marti" Kay Bertram, and William "Bill" Harler (Betty); and he was married to Sonja Bass for 5 years until his passing along with each others company they enjoyed sightseeing and attending social events.
Graveside rites with burial to follow will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill with Pastor Scott Sears officiating.
Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery.
