Catherine Virginia Gravely, 95, of Oak Hill passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the Hilltop Center in Hilltop, WV.
Born June 28, 1925 in Tamroy, WV she was the daughter of the late Scottish Immigrants Pete and Jean Ann Milne Paris.
Catherine was a graduate from Fayetteville High School holds advanced Secretarial Certificate from Beckley College.
She was a federal employee for 30 years, 22 years as a Postmaster at Cunard, and 8 years at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver. While on the base Catherine received Commanders Certificate of Appreciation, Special Achievement Award, and Sustained Superior Performance Award.
Catherine was a life long Presbyterian member in Fayetteville, Denver and Oak Hill, she served as Sunday School Teacher, Bible Teacher for the church circle, and was President of the Women of the Church of Kanawha Prebyterial
She was Correspondent at Fayette Tribune, past member of the National Association of Postmasters, President of Fayetteville Junior Woman's Club, member of the Oak Hill Business and Professional Woman's Club, Girl Scout Counselor, part of a study club, and a Chairman of Polio, Red Cross, and Cancer drives.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Gravely; and sister Doris Shockey.
Those left to cherish her memory include nephew, David Shockey; nieces Bonnie Hill (Howard), and Jackie Eye; great niece, Katherine Eye, and Andrea Hill; and her son Catherine's great great nephew, Nathan Hill.
Graveside rites with burial to follow will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 31, 2020 at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill with Pastor Jackie Pittman officiating.
