Anna Maria Canterbury, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at CAMC Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill.
Born on June 24, 1937 , in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Dora Zorio Ramella.
Anna Maria retired in 2007 after 36 years with Appalachian Heating & Cooling and retired again in 2025 after 14 years with the Fayette County Family Court.
Anna Maria was a member of the Gum Spring Baptist Church at Chimney Corner. She was a Pastor's wife with a heart full of giving.
Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John L. Ramella, Jr.; and two sisters, Nidia Harrison and Linda Pishner.
She is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, Mack S. Canterbury; two daughters, Vicki (Darrell) Jones and Cathy Jo (Charlie) Bryant; grandchildren, Faith "Katie" Jones and Stewart (Stacy) Jones; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Andrew Jones, and Juniper Wade; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and in 2015 she was blessed with additional grandchildren, Tanya (Donald) Elder and Josh (Christina) Bryant and their families. Her caregivers Cindy Proskin and Myra Cooley were a blessing to her.
Graveside rites with burial to follow will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville, with Assistant Pastor Jeremy Bailey officiating.
Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Gum Spring Baptist Church Home Missions Fund, P.O. Box 430, Ansted, WV 25812 or Huse Memorial Park Wreaths Across America Project, 125 North Court Street, Fayetteville, WV 25840.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Plateau Medical Center who showed mom and her family amazing care and compassion.
