Vernor Alfred Bloxton

Our precious husband, father, and grandfather Vernor Alfred Bloxton , 90, of Redstar, WV died on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.

Born March 16, 1927 at Hilltop, WV he was the son of the late James William and Ruth Hester Smith Bloxton.

Vernor worked 39 years as a clerk for the C&O Railroad retiring in 1985.

He was a graduate of Mount Hope High School, US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Packs Branch Baptist Church.

Sisters, Beulah Pennington, Juanita Bloxton and Betty Mae Bloxton preceded him in death.

His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife, Sallie Ann Underwood Bloxton; sons, Jerry Bloxton and wife, Lorie of Inverness, FL and Johnny Bloxton and Patty Shrewsberry of Redstar; daughters, Ruth Ann Leonard of Salisbury, NC and Janet McClung and husband, Bill of Fayetteville; one brother, Danny Bloxton of Beckley; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Services will be on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. with Jerry Bloxton and Pastor Sam Vance officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
