Sidney Scott Willett

September 11, 1970 — July 22, 2021

Sidney Scott Willett, 50, of Scarbro, WV passed away July 22, 2021. He was born in Virginia but made West Virginia his home. He is named after his great grandfather Sidney Harry Thomas. The family called him “Scott” but his friends called him “Sid”. He never knew a stranger.

Growing up, he played pee wee football and was a loyal Oilers fan when they were at Houston.  One year, his karate team went to the national championships in Pennsylvania. Later on, he spent time working in the trades of carpentry and masonry but never settled down to just one. Scott also enjoyed his time working at Colonial Williamsburg in the Lodge kitchen for a short while. After moving to West Virginia, he enjoyed working at the Pawn Shop, hanging out at the Comac and even tried his hand at taxidermy.  He did whatever he needed to do in order to provide for his family.

Scott was a 21 year cancer survivor with 3 different types of cancer over the years though he struggled with health issues his whole life. Despite the odds being against him, he loved his family and friends with all his heart.

He is predeceased by his grandmother, Gladys Thomas Bowman whom he called “Gigi”; his mother Shirley B. Willett, and Zack Stallone, who was like a son. He is survived by his two sons, Andrew and Michael; two daughters, Joanne and Billie Jean and three grandchildren; Gabriel, Gage and Abigail, as well as a sister Leigh Anne Langston (Tim) of Virginia and nephew, Hunter Langston.  There are many other extended family and friends who will truly miss him.

Cremation arrangements are being made by Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill, WV. Memorial services will be held at a later time.

Donations toward final expenses for the Willett family can be made at Jade Tiger Games, 322 E. Main Street, Oak Hill, WV 25901. In addition, for the rest of the month, a portion of proceeds for every item sold will go to the family
