Raymond Joe Menei

With family at his side, Raymond Joe Menei, 83, of Mount Hope, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday August 5, 2017. Raymond passed away peacefully at Pine Lodge Nursing Home in Beckley, WV following a prolonged illness.

Born May 29, 1934 at Tamroy, WV, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Sirna Romano Menei.

Raymond was a lifelong resident of Mount Hope. He was a US Army veteran as well as a proud West Virginia coal miner and UMWA member. Throughout his lifetime, Raymond enjoyed playing softball and bowling with family and friends.

His wife, Phyllis Grimmett Menei, sisters Lucille D'Angelo, Josephine Huzoski, Angeline Vannatter, and Parma Jean Kincaid and a brother, John Carmelo Menei preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his memory include one brother, Vincent Menei and wife, Norma of Mount Hope; children, Hattie Cottle and husband, Michael of Mount Hope, Mickey Menei and wife, Melissa of Oak Hill, and Thomas Menei of Smithers; as well as five grandchildren: Britney (Jonathan) Maynor, Michael Cottle, Nicolas (Brittney) Menei, Taylor Menei, and Alisha Menei; eight great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.

Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday August 9, 2017 at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Reverend Richard Midkiff officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Michael Cottle and Nico Menei, nephews Nick D'Angelo, Jimmy Kincaid, James Vannatter, and Alex D'Angelo.
