Merle Blake Burnette

Merle Blake Burnette, 90, of Oak Hill, WV passed away at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center at Cambridge, Ohio, on Saturday, March 3, 2007 following a short illness. Born May 4, 1916, at Oak Hill,WV she was the daughter of the late Seth and Fannie Ella Mahoney Blake. She was a homemaker. Merle was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church where she attended the Shirley Donnelly Bible Class and the Hilbert Stickler Missionary Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Burnette; a daughter, Sandra Amick; a brother, Ray Blake; and two sisters, Lois Munoz and Marguerite Guthrie. Survivors include her sons, Jerry Burnette and wife, Mary of Chicago, Illinois and James Burnette and wife, Debi of Cambridge, Ohio; a son-in-law, Don Amick of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister, Patsy Lawton of Oak Hill; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Service will be 11 AM Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at the Oak Hill Baptist Church, Oak Hill, WV with the Rev. David White officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call from 6 until 9 PM Tuesday, March 6, 2007,at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill.
