Maxine Williams Sweeney

E. Maxine (Mickey) Williams Sweeney of Beckley, WV passed away quietly at her home on Monday, November 9, 2020.
Born March 31, 1930, in Whipple, WV she was the daughter of the late Donley C. and Garnet L. Gilliam Williams.
Mickey was a 1948 Woodrow Wilson High graduate where during her senior year she was the 1948 Female Athlete of the Year. She was a retired secretary for Nationwide Insurance Co. and was a loyal and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Beckley where she was in a quilting group and was a secretary for the Pathfinder class at the church for many years.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Basil Ross Sweeney; sons, Charles and Clinton Sweeney; brother, Jack Williams; and sisters, Arvilla Roggan and Jean Morelli.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carolyn Earehart (David); son, Larry Sweeney (Linda); grandchildren, Amy Key, Carrie Earehart, Donley Sweeney, Shawn Sweeney (Megan), and Jack Sweeney; and great grandchildren, Camryn Key and Emmy Sweeney.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations of sympathy be made to the Beckley Community United Methodist Church 217 S. Heber St. Beckley WV, 25801 or Hospice of Southern WV P.O. Box 1472 Beckley WV, 25801.
Pastor Betsy Evans Ingstrup will officiate private services.
