Lenora Evelyn Jarrett
September 21, 1928 — January 21, 2017
Lenora Evelyn Powers Jarrett, age 89, of Scarbro, West Virginia went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2017. Evelyn (as she is known to all) passed away at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, West Virginia.
Evelyn is survived by husband of 70 years, James Edward Jarrett; son, James E. (Debra) Jarrett Jr. of Richwood; two grandchildren, James Ross Jarrett of Richwood, and Crystal Charlene (Ryan) MCclanan of Richmond, Virginia; sister Patsy Powers (Omer) Coleman of Maysville, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents Donley and Lazella Tyree Powers and siblings Betty Powers, Norma Powers Munsey and Jack R. Powers preceded her in death.
Evelyn lived in Richwood for 34 years until she moved to Fayette County. Evelyn worked for G. C. Murphy Co. where she retired and was an income tax preparer for several years.
She attended the Fairview United Methodist Church in Mossy; she loved her church and church family. She was also a member of the Women’s Society with the church that supported the Orphanage in Beckley.
Evelyn loved to read and enjoyed family and friends stopping by the house, always making sure you had plenty to eat and always hot coffee in the coffee pot. She talked daily to her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all.
Memorial service will be held at a later date.
