James Thomas Mundy, Jr.

Rev. James Thomas Mundy Jr. 77, of Mount Hope, WV died on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in Lynchburg, VA. Born September 10, 1935 at Fayetteville, WV he was the son of the late James Thomas Mundy, Sr. and Bernice Eugenia Gentry Mundy. Rev. Mundy was a retired Baptist minister having pastored for 48 years. He was a US Air Force veteran. His wife, Frances Sue Crone Mundy preceded him in death. Survivors include four daughters, Kay Ellen Mundy Hornsby and husband, James of Forest, VA, Penny Jo Mundy Hutchinson and husband, Brian of Lynchburg, Amy Jane Mundy of Mount Hope and Molly Lynn Mundy Levering and husband, Paul of Forest, VA; two sisters, Betty Mundy Burnette of Charleston and Lois Mundy Mahoney of Oak Hill; one brother, Joseph Mundy of Fairhope, Alabama seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Sophia First Baptist Church, 222, First Street, Sophia, WV with Rev. David Sneed and Bob Creed officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Friends may call a the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill from 6-8 PM on Saturday, June 29, 2013 and at the Sophia First Baptist Church one hour prior to services on Sunday.
