James Oscar Evans, Jr. , 92, of Oak Hill, WV died on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at his home.
Born October 24, 1924 at Hilltop, WV he was the son of the late James Oscar and Estelle Champe Evans, Sr..
Mr. Evans was a retired Carman for C&O Railway. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Fayetteville and was a US Marine Corps veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Jean Johnson Evans; grandson, James Christopher Brimhall; sisters, Frances Loving and Gay Johnson; and brothers, Charles Evans and William Evans.
Surviving are his loving family which includes daughters, Cathy Buckland and husband, Roger of Oak Hill and Donna Hess and husband, Jerry of Barberville, KY; grandchildren, Jeffrey McQueen, Bridgitte Lockett, Jennifer Troutman, Roger Buckland, II and Ashley Muse; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Justin Seay officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
