Hilmer Junior Aliff, 71, of Mt. Nebo, WV died on Wednesday, August 07, 2019 at Summersville Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born September 02, 1947 at Paint Creek, WV he was the son of the late Hilmer H. and Emma Ruth Keffer Aliff.
Junior was in the coal mines for 17 years. After the mines he went to become transportation director for The Rivermen. He was with The Rivermen and Adventures on the Gorge for 37 years before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
His wife of 46 years, Stella Ann Young Aliff preceded him in death on March 4, 2018. Brothers, Walter O Aliff, Carl F. Aliff, Donald Aliff, Luther B Aliff and Henry A. Aliff and sisters, Vera June Aliff and Lyda Ruth Aliff also preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughter, Terri (Franklin) Riffle; grandson, his pride in joy, Griffin Aliff; brother, Homer H. Aliff; sisters, Brenda Aliff and Linda Aliff Reed; and sisters-in-law, Betty Aliff, Betty Jane Aliff, Carmen Jean Aliff, and Debbie Aliff.
Pall Bearers will be his son-in law Franklin Riffle, Rivermen-AOTG Staff Steve Brenner, Brian Campbell, Steve Campbell, Len Hanger, Shauna King, PJ Stevenson and Randy Underwood.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the EMT’s that assisted Junior on the evening of his death. In the memo line or note write Memory of Hilmer J. Aliff for EMT Staff: Wilderness Fire Department, 119 East Mount Lookout Road, Mt. Lookout WV 26678 or Kesslers Cross Lanes VFD, PO Box 203, Kesslers Cross Lanes WV 26675.
Services will be on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Paul Basham officiating. Entombment will be at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
A social mixer will be at Buffler’s from 4 pm to 7pm on Adventures on the Gorge property.
