Gwendolyn Kay Morris Nelson, 75 of Oak Hill passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born July 5, 1946 in Charleston, WV she was the daughter of the late Earnie and Lola Mae Harper Morris.
Gwendolyn was a 1964 graduate from Collins High School, she worked as a Administrative Professional both at Sears, where she retired after 24 years, and Hamilton, Burgess, Young, and Pollard law firm for 7 years. She was a lifelong member of the Jones Avenue Church of God and was active in the Women of the Church of God for over thirty years.
Those left to cherish her memory include he loving husband, Gary Nelson; son, Dr. Chris Nelson; daughter-in-law, Andrea Nelson; grandchildren, Nathaniel and Ian Nelson; sisters, Gloria Meadows, Carolyn Clark, Judy Alexander (Walter), and Stephanie Scarbro; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Jones Avenue First Church of God 420 Jones Avenue Oak Hill WV, 25901 with Pastor Mike Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill.
Visitation for friends will be Friday, February 18, 2022 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
