Surrounded by her loving family, Evelyn Lee Bowling Harris , 84, of Oak Hill, WV passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.
Born July 04, 1932 in Thurmond, WV the daughter of the late Hayward Carlile and Venia Lee Lilly Bowling.
Evelyn was a devoted member of the Jones Avenue First Church of God, Oak Hill. She was a graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill.
Her husband, Karl Melvin "Toby" Harris preceded her in death on March 7, 1985. She was also preceded by son-in-law, Richard B. Craigo; grandson, Richard W. "Ritchie" Craigo; and two brothers, Frank Bowling and Carl Elmer Bowling.
Those left to cherish her memory include son, James Everette Harris and wife, Sharon of Oak Hill; daughters, Jean Craigo of Oak Hill and Ann Bailess and husband, Hank of Lansing; brother, Ralph Bowling and wife, Mary; and sisters, Carol Ivey and husband, Buck and Barbara Meadows.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Joseph Vogel, Shanna Allen, Michael Harris, Heather Stafford, Jennifer Bragg, Jonathan Bailess and Lydia Bailess; 11 7/8ths great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Jones Avenue First Church of God in Oak Hill with Rev. Vondie Cook and Rev. Patricia Franklin officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
Visitation will be held at the Jones Avenue First Church of God on Monday, October 3, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley WV 25801.
