Dorothy Marie Hayden Osborne

November 7, 1927 — September 13, 2019

Announcing! That Heaven has gained another Angel! Dorothy Marie Hayden Osborne, 91 received her crown on Friday, September 13, 2019. Her peaceful passing took place at Bowers Hospice House. She resided in Scarbro, West Virginia.
Dorothy was born on November 7,1927 at Four Mile, KY. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Lewis Hayden Sizemore Slusher and father, Jeff Hayden; brothers, Owen Hayden and Bobby Sizemore; first husband, Delford L. Oliver; and her beloved second husband, Elmer Osborne to whom she was married 48 years. Elmer was a supportive ministry partner, musician and a bible teacher and scholar throughout Dorothy’s time as a Pastor and televangelist.
Those who are left to cherish her memory include daughter, Carol St. Clair (Bill) of Oak Hill; son, Jefferson Oliver of Scarbro; and sister, Louise Rosian of Russell Spring, KY. She was grandmother of six: Wanda Lewis (Mark) Buffalo, KY, Sonja St. Clair-Hassler (Andy) O’Fallon, MO, Stacy Baber (Hans) Duncan, SC, Shannon Cherian (Roy) Wentzville, MO, Nathan St. Clair (Christine) Scarbro, and Teresa Matson (Michael) Killdeer, ND; great grandmother of 33, great-great grandmother of 20, and great, great, great grandmother of 3. Before her passing there were 6 living generations. Not many families can say that!
Dorothy was Pastor at the Full Gospel Church of Scarbro for 48 years. She had a television program on WOAY TV for 39 years and 3 years at Abingdon, VA. Only God knows how many people Dorothy was instrumental in leading to the Lord.
Dorothy was saved at 17 and Evangelized for over 20 years. Working while her husband was in War World II, she later went to school for accounting and was an accountant. She was a soul winner for God, a bread winner and a prayer warrior for many. She taught us values, morals, to respect our elders, and most of all to love God with all our heart and soul. She has been a living example of what God wants us to be in our lives. She was God's hands and feet on earth- a true disciple for her Lord.
Service of celebration and remembrance will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Pastors Darrell Stapleton and Jessie Parker officiating.
Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Grandsons and Matt Bowyer will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801. They were very instrumental and supportive in assisting our family during a very difficult season of our lives.

A NOTE FROM THE FAMILY OF SISTER DOROTHY OSBORNE

To all our family, friends and church family – we could never thank you enough for all the joy and blessings you have brought to our family throughout the years.

First, we would like to thank each of you for coming to share in our sorrow at the loss of our dearly beloved Dorothy and to celebrate her life.

To her children, she was mom; to the grandchildren she was grandma, great grandma and great-great grandma. She was indeed GREAT! Dorothy was aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Know that she loved each of you very much.

To our church family Dorothy was your sister in the Lord, your shepherd and Bible teacher. She was a shining example for all in how to live as a Christian woman. Her dear husband Elmer was supportive in all her work for the Lord. On the television broadcast “Spirit Of Victory” he blessed so many with his music, he lifted her up in prayer and worked by her side through their 46 years of marriage. They had a busy life raising a family and working for the Lord. There wasn't a dull moment. Their home was always open. We thank you for all you have done now and throughout the years. Perhaps you prayed, gave financial support to the ministry, worked along side them in church work, or have reached out to us now in our time of loss with calls, cards, visits, or food. Thank you for your presence here today. God bless each of you.

To her beloved daughter, Carol, thank you for your unfailing support. You were instrumental in all our endeavors for the Lord and became a devoted caregiver in her last years. To her dear son, Jeff, thank you for your unfailing love and devotion and for being a constant companion throughout the years especially after Elmer died. Mom loved you both.

We ask that you continue to remember us in the coming days as we are much in need of your prayers and friendship.

In love and peace, The Family of Rev. Dorothy Osborne
