Claud Quesenberry

January 18, 1926 — October 22, 2017

Claud Vernon Quesenberry , 91, of Oak Hill, WV went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 22, 2017.

Born January 18, 1926 at Hiwassee, VA he was the son of the late James R. and Mary Jane Graham Quesenberry.

A World War II US Army veteran, he was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and several other medals. One of his fondest memories of the war was the day he arrived home.

Claud retired from the WV American Water Company with 42 years service. He was a former member of the Oak Hill Lions Club and Beckley Elk.

He loved to travel and spend time with his family, but most of all he loved to watch WVU and his westerns.

Claud was a member of the Jones Avenue First Church of God where he enjoyed attending and being with his church family.

His wife of 69 years, Sylvia Ann Frazier Quesenberry; son, Rodney Quesenberry ; and daughter, Judy Epperly preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughter Joyce Cobb and husband, Mike of Oak Hill. Claud was a proud and loving grandfather of six grandchildren, Paula Ried, Tami (Benny) Adkins, Lee Lafferty, Claudia (Ted) Kania, Heather Stanley, and Michael Cobb (Robin); along with thirteen great grandchildren, Ashley, Tiffany (Elmo), Charley, Philip, Peyton, Mikel, Chase, Michelle, Jacob, Justin, Hannah and Jon Michael,; and nineteen great great grandchildren, Cadence, Cooper, Aniston, Barkley, Kelsie, Alexis, Makayla, Tyler, Caden, Rylee, Madaline, McKinzy, Madison, Izaiah, Paizlee, Kylee, Bently, Molly and Olivia. He will be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephew, and additional family and friends.

His final wish for family was to be remembered for his good deeds and to love each other.

The family would like to thank Stephanie, Carrie, and Andrea of Southern WV Hospice. They were kind, patient and loving.

Services will be on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill in Oak Hill. with Rev. Vondie Cook Rev. Pat Franklin officiating. Entombment will be at High Lawn Memorial Park., Oak Hill, WV Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Lafferty, Jon Michael Cobb, Elmo Phillips, Michael Cobb, Justin Hambrick and Ted Kania.

In lieu of the flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley WV 25802.
