Charles "Max" Maxwell Bobbitt

Charles "Max" Maxwell Bobbitt , 82, of Fayetteville, WV passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, August 08, 2020, at Montgomery General Hospital in Montgomery, WV with his family by his side.
Born September 13, 1937, in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late Dennis and Mary Sue Darlington Bobbitt.
He was a graduate of Fayetteville High School Class of 1957. After graduation Max joined the United States Navy and served for 4 years aboard the USS Washborn (AKA-108). He was retired from Charleston Steel and Lowes in Fayetteville.
A member of the Scarbro United Methodist Church, Max served on various committees and he was the Breakfast Manager for the children’s Sunday School.
Max enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. After retiring he enjoyed sitting on his front porch drinking ice tea.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 36 years, Delores A. Bowyer Bobbitt, his sisters Patricia (Shirley) Wallot and Betty (Ralph) Downey, several nieces and nephews, his neighbor and friend Rick Holiday and Sheryl and Keith Elkins, cousins who referred to him as Uncle Max, they enjoyed picking on each other and sitting on his front porch drinking tea.
In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
