Brett Austin Miller

Brett Austin Miller, 21, of Coal City went to heaven July 17, 2022. He was born in Beckley September 1, 2000, the son of Susan and Shannon Miller. Brett was preceded in death by grandparents Tom Small of Prosperity and Peggy Small of Sophia, Johnny Miller of Midway and Gwen Miller of Sophia. Brett is survived by his mother Susan Miller of Coal City, his father Shannon Miller of Beckley, and his younger brother Cohen Miller of Coal City.

He is also survived by his uncle and aunts: Tommy and wife Beth Small of Cool Ridge, Debbie Alexander of Sophia, Teresa and husband Robert Hutchinson of MacArthur, and Kim and husband Scott Morris of Coal City. He is also survived by his cousins Faith Alexander, Thomas Danley, Justin and Brad Stewart, and Tyler and Emily Small as well as second cousins Braxton, Sawyer, Blake and Ryleigh.

Brett graduated from Independence High School with honors and was planning to finish his Associate Degree this fall. Brett was a special person who loved like none other. He enjoyed playing basketball and spending time with his large, close family who celebrated him and all of his accomplishments throughout his life. He had a strong work ethic and a spirit of excellence. Brett always gave his best. He genuinely loved and valued others. His beautiful heart will be dearly missed.

As a child, Brett received Christ as his Savior. He attended Camp Cowen (church camp) throughout his childhood and adolescence which had a huge spiritual impact. As a young adult he knew the importance of salvation and this past summer confirmed his relationship with Christ.
